Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, one of GOP nominee Donald Trump's key surrogates, questioned why Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton would pinpoint, during Wednesday night's debate, the time period it takes for a president to launch the nation's nuclear codes.
"I'm not going to sit here and confirm or deny what she just stated," Flynn, a former member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told Fox News' Fox and Friends.
"I will tell you that revealing sensitive information at any time is never a good thing, and I would question her judgment for doing that."
During the debate, Clinton, while commenting about whether experts trust Trump with the nuclear code, commented that there is "about four minutes between the order being given, and the people responsible for launching nuclear weapons to do so."
Her statement prompted questions about whether she'd revealed classified information, but an aide said the information came from open source information, not from a classified briefing.
Flynn on Friday said that now that Clinton has given a four-minute time frame, "now everybody knows."
Flynn also weighed in on retired Marine Corps Gen. James Cartwright, who pleaded guilty Monday to making false statements during a classified information leak investigation.
"So if Gen. Cartwright, if he violated a particular standard in this case, the revealing of classified information or lying to the FBI under oath, did Hillary Clinton do the same thing?" said Flynn. "Did Gen. [David] Petraeus do the same thing? What's the standard that the FBI has? If they have a different standard for politicians, we're in trouble."
