Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore said he is pondering a run for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016, touting his foreign policy experience.
"I actually ran one of the major states of this country," Gilmore said Sunday on
"The Cats Roundtable" on AM 970 in New York. "Secondly … none of the other potential candidates knows anything about foreign policy, whereas I do."

Gilmore told host John Catsimatidis
he chaired the Advisory Panel to Assess Domestic Response Capabilities for Terrorism Involving Weapons of Mass Destruction for five years.
"They came to me when I was the governor of Virginia and asked me to chair a very major commission to deal with the issues of terrorism and weapons of mass destruction," he said.
Gilmore also said that many of the potential candidates talk about economic growth or even tax cuts, but have not actually thought it through.
"They’re just mouthing the words, he said. "We have thought it through."
Gilmore's three-point tax plan includes across-the-board tax cuts, a reformed personal income tax rate of 15 percent and an elimination of the "death tax."
"What you want to do is encourage investment in this country," he said.
