The Republican Party of Virginia is calling for a boycott of the restaurant where the owner asked White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave.

Sanders said she was booted from The Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia on Friday evening because she worked for President Donald Trump.

In a Twitter post, the state party said: "Once again, the intolerant left has shown its true colors. Sign the boycott petition to show the Red Hen that patriotic Trump supporters are the silent majority in Virginia!"

The tweet linked to a state GOP website where people could sign a boycott petition.

"The liberal owner of the "Red Hen" restaurant in Lexington threw out Sarah Huckabee in the middle of dinner just because she works for President Trump!" the party said on the website. "Once again the intolerant left has shown its true colors.

"Sign the boycott petition below so we can show the Red Hen and its liberal supporters that patriotic Trump supporters are the silent majority in Virginia!"
