President Donald Trump on Saturday delivered a shot at 17-year-old Greta Thunberg, a Swedish climate activist who in December said she would not have "wasted my time" talking to Trump.

During a speech at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in National Harbor, Maryland, Trump brought up the fact that Thunberg was named the 2019 Time Person of the Year.

"This year I lost to Greta," Trump said. "I said, 'Who?'"

Trump was the Person of the Year in 2016, the year he won the presidency.

Trump and Thunberg have traded veiled barbs at each other in recent months on the issue of climate change. In December after Trump said Thunberg had an "anger management problem," she changed her Twitter bio to reflect what Trump said.

Thunberg spoke at the United Nations General Assembly last September and accused Trump and other world leaders of not doing enough to stop climate change.

"You are failing us. But the young people are starting to understand your betrayal," she said. "The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us, I say: We will never forgive you."

Trump replied by tweeting, "She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!"

Thunberg then changed her Twitter bio to reflect Trump's description of her.
