President Donald Trump’s job approval rating remained steady in October, bolstered by national security and economic news even as the House impeachment inquiry escalated.
In the Harvard CAPS/Harris survey for The Hill released Friday, 46% of respondents said they approve of Trump’s job in office, compared with 54% who disapprove. Those numbers were unchanged from the pollster’s survey in September.
"Despite all the turbulence Trump’s overall approval remains steady and it went up 5 points on fighting terrorism and three points in the economy," Mark Penn, the poll’s co-director told The Hill. "He has 57% approval in those key areas."
The Hill noted the poll was conducted in the immediate wake of the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and as the nation added 128,000 jobs during the month.
The full results of the poll of 1,810 registered voters will be posted online, The Hill reported.
