Hillary Clinton slammed the Republican Party for not supporting gun control in the wake of the mass shooting in Las Vegas, saying the GOP "is totally sold to the gun lobby," Wednesday.
"I can't believe that one whole political party in the greatest country on earth is totally sold to the gun lobby," she told "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon.
"The vast majority of Americans and the vast majority of gun owners know we need common sense laws," Clinton added.
After the shooting, in which 58 people were killed and about 500 injured, Democrats began a new push for gun control legislation, which Republicans have opposed. Many members of the GOP have argued that it's an inappropriate issue to discuss immediately after a shooting.
Clinton appeared on the "Tonight Show" to promote her new book, "What Happened," which she described as "a story of resilience."
She added, "it is my best effort to pull the curtain back, invite people in to see what happened from my perspective and to talk about the things that I didn't get right and what was happening at the same time."
Clinton also said that she "was so worried about what it meant to have my opponent win," adding that she was particularly worried by President Donald Trump.
"If I had lost to another Republican, someone I disagreed with but thought was temperamentally able to be president, I would be disappointed, but I wouldn't be so worried about my country."
The former secretary of state also addressed Trump's response to the recent hurricanes and the relief efforts in Puerto Rico, saying, "it's hard to figure out what are the priorities" for the president.
"What are you spending your time doing? Golfing? Tweeting? Watching cable TV? Find some time to tell the Navy to get down there."
