Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was heckled during a New Hampshire town hall-style meeting by people shouting for her to act on climate change.

According to a video of the exchange, a young woman told Clinton she was unhappy with a previous answer she had given on ending energy extraction on public land.

The woman asked whether Clinton's "refusal to take leadership on climate change" was due to the fact that "you have contributions from the fossil fuel industry in your campaign."

Story continues below video.

"No," Clinton replied, explaining that she could give an answer that would make the woman happy, but that she wouldn't be able to do anything more realistically than "advocate for it" and "keep advocating for it."

"We have to change our energy policy," Clinton continued. "I have been clear about that. … We also have to do it in a way that also doesn’t disrupt our economy. It’s really easy to say, 'Yeah, let's ban all these fossil fuel extractions,' and forget about all the people who are employed, who have jobs, who rely on the energy.'

At that point another woman standing nearer to Clinton stood up and began a chant that was joined by others, "Act on climate! Act on climate! Act on climate!"

"That's OK, that's OK," Clinton responded. " I'm all in favor of acting on climate. I totally respect the passion and the urgency. We have a lot of work to do."
