Donald Trump now trails Hillary Clinton by 7 points in Wisconsin, according to a new Marquette University Law School poll — and lewd comments about women made by the GOP presidential candidate appear to be a factor.

The survey of 1,000 registered voters, conducted from Oct. 6-9, reveals:

  • Clinton: 44 percent;
  • Trump: 37 percent;
  • Gary Johnson: 9 percent;
  • Jill Stein: 3 percent;
  • No preference: 6 percent.

The poll began one day before The Washington Post bared a 2005 tape in which Trump is heard talking about groping women in extremely lewd terms, something he has since apologized for.

"[The Post story] appears to have caused a significant shift in Wisconsin voters' attitudes across several different demographics," Charles Franklin, director of the Marquette Law School Poll, said in a statement.

In the previous Marquette poll, conducted Sept. 15-18, Clinton had 41 percent and Trump had 38 percent among likely voters, with Johnson at 11 percent, Stein at 2 percent, and 7 percent having no preference.
