House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is convinced Alabama Republican Roy Moore should have quit the Senate race, The Hill is reporting.

"I think he should have dropped out," Ryan said. "Just because the polling has changed doesn't change my opinion on that, so I stand by what I said before."

Moore has been accused by various women of pursuing inappropriate relationships with them while they were in his teens and he was in his 30s, the website noted.

Ryan had previously called on Moore to step aside saying the allegations were "credible," CNN noted.

Moore will face Democrat Doug Jones in Tuesday's special election.

A Raycom News poll released this week showed Moore being backed by 50 percent of voters and Jones having the support of 43 percent.
