The presidential race was a clear "rejection" of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's "ethics," conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt said Tuesday night.

In remarks to MSNBC about the GOP nominee's extraordinary election day performance that exceeded expectations, Hewitt said "reluctant Trump voters" like himself had come home for a reason.

"Donald Trump's election, for all the reluctant Trump voters out there who came home in the last few weeks, we're feeling as though it's a policy election – and it's a rejection of Secretary Clinton's ethics. That's what it comes down to."

Hewitt predicted the unexpected strong showing will trigger "a drop in the markets tomorrow."

"It will come back," he said, adding Trump "will surround himself with Mike Pences. They will not throw out Paul Ryan. He will want to accomplish things. He's a builder. He's a very different personality than we've dealt with before."
