Fifty-four percent of voters oppose eliminating the Immigration and Customs enforcement agency, while 25 percent believe it should abolished, a new Politico/Morning Consult poll reveals.
Twenty-one percent of voters are undecided. The poll results, released Wednesday, come as some Democrats have been pushing to get rid of ICE.
Here's how the poll results break down:
- 13 percent say they would be much more likely to vote for a candidate for Congress who supported getting rid of ICE; another 13 percent say somewhat more likely; 10 percent say somewhat less likely; 30 percent say much less likely and 17 percent say it would make no difference
- 46 percent approve of the job Donald Trump is doing as president, while 50 percent do not
- 29 percent have a favorable opinion of special counsel Robert Mueller, while 34 percent do not. Thirty-seven percent had no opinion.
- 42 percent would vote for the Democratic candidate in their districts if the congressional elections were held today, compared to 37 percent who would back the Republican candidate
The poll, conducted July 6-10, surveyed 1,999 registered voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points.
