Democrats' impeachment unity is effectively growing within the party, as nearly 50% of Democrats now support impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

After just 30% of Democrats supported impeachment hearings a month ago, 48% of Democrats polled now do – proving impeachment talk is a partisan endeavor as a mere 6% of Republicans support impeachment hearings.

The Democrats' movement does move up the numbers of the entire voter base 10 percentage points, but that number still stands at a only 27% supporting impeachment hearings, according to the poll.

Most of that move comes from those who believe Congress should continue investigating for impeachment evidence, as that number fell 8 percentage points in the past month in the poll.

Unchanged is the 48% that believes Congress should move on and allow President Trump to finish out his first presidential term, per NBC News. That number was an overwhelming 86% among Republicans.

More results from the NBC/WSJ poll:

  • 44% approve of the job President Trump is doing.
  • 53% disapprove.
  • 37% of registered voters are at least comfortable voting for President Trump – 52% are "very uncomfortable."
  • 40% are at least comfortable voting for former Vice President Joe Biden – 31% very uncomfortable.

The poll was conducted among 1,000 adults and 825 registered voters between June 8-11. The margin of error among adults was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points and plus or minus 3.4 percentage points among registered voters.
