President Donald Trump took to Twitter within minutes of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's announcement launching a formal impeachment inquiry against him, accusing them of demeaning the work at the United Nations to smear him and declaring the matter "presidential harassment."
Trump tweeted:
"Such an important day at the United Nations, so much work and so much success, and the Democrats purposely had to ruin and demean it with more breaking news Witch Hunt garbage. So bad for our Country!"
Minutes later, he posted a tweet railing against several key House Democrats and committee chairpersons.
"Pelosi, Nadler, Schiff and, of course, Maxine Waters! Can you believe this?" he posted, referring to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-NY, Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Financial Services Chairwoman Waters, D-Calif.
Waters has been calling for months for Trump's impeachment.
In further tweets Trump continued to rail:
"They never even saw the transcript of the call. A total Witch Hunt!"
And finally, simply "PRESIDENTIAL HARRASSMENT!"
