Fifty-four percent of registered voters support impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump, according to a Pew Research survey released Thursday.

The House has yet to vote to formalize its inquiry as past Congresses have for impeachment proceedings, though several committees have started investigations into Trump’s actions related to a phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy where the president asked Zelenskiy to investigate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

Biden is the Democratic presidential frontrunner.

The survey was taken after details about Trump's call with Zelenskiy were made public and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the House would be moving forward with the inquiry.

In a previous survey conducted Sept. 3-15, 50% of respondents said they favored the House launching impeachment proceedings.

Nine percent of respondents who voiced opposition to the inquiry in September now approve it, according to Pew.

Democrats make up a majority of the respondents who changed their opinion.

The survey was conducted from Oct. 1-Oct. 13 among a population of 3,487 U.S. adults. The margin of error is 2.2 percent.
