Noted conservative attorney and legal activist James Bopp has joined Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal's America Next organization to provide policy and legal advice, the think tank announced Thursday.

"If and when Jindal becomes a candidate for president, Bopp will be on board," an adviser to Jindal, who is weighing a run for president next year, told National Review.

A former vice chairman of the Republican National Committee and chairman of the RNC's conservative steering committee, Bopp "will also work his network of conservative contacts — and RNC members — across the country on Jindal’s behalf," the magazine reported.

Bopp has provided legal assistance and strategic help for than 30 years to clients that have included Focus on the Family, the National Right to Life Committee and the RNC.

Bopp's expertise in election law won him recognition as the country's "leading litigator against campaign restrictions" by The Washington Post and one of the "100 Most Influential Lawyers in America" by the National Law Journal.

The veteran attorney praised Jindal as "a full spectrum conservative" with the "courage and skill to devise, promote and implement a strong conservative agenda."

Jindal called Bopp someone who "has spent his lifetime fighting for freedom and for conservative values" and said he is honored to have his help in designing "conservative policy solutions that work in the real world."
