We can show respect for the movement Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., has created, but it is time to get behind Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee, according to Democratic political consultant James Carville.

"There's a 99-1 chance that vice president Biden is going to be the nominee," Carville told MSNBC on Tuesday night, known as Super Tuesday II. "Let's shut this puppy down. This thing is decided. There's no reason to keep it going not even a day longer."

Carville noted, this is not the Democratic establishment talking the past two Tuesday nights, it is the Democratic voters.

"It's the democratic voters that made this decision," Carville said. "Vice President Biden is not trying to force him out. You've got to respect voters. Respect the people in South Carolina, and Virginia, and Michigan, and all the places they're working.

"Yes, they have to have respect for democracy and this is very clear what Democrats around the country are saying."

Another big night for Biden should bring Sanders to relent and get to the real goal of winning the general election in November against President Donald Trump, according to Carville.

"We've got to bring this party together; we've got to stop this," Carville said. "This is not any avail to continue this thing any longer. It really isn't. And we can have respect and we can have admiration for what Sen. Sanders and his supporters have established but you've got to respect the democratic voters.

"This is what this is about: The democratic voters have spoken," Carville said. "They've spoken unambiguously and clearly, and they need to be listened to."
