Ousted FBI Director Jim Comey praised people for standing up for what they believe in.

His comments came in a Monday night tweet quoting Martin Luther King.

Comey's tweet made no reference to any news event. However, it was followed by an Axios report that Attorney General Jeff Sessions — at the urging of President Donald Trump — had been pushing FBI Director Christopher Wray to remove Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

But, according to Axios, Wray had threatened to quit if McCabe was fired.

The Hill noted the Comey tweet also followed Trump signing a government funding bill ending a three-day-long shutdown of the government.
