Jared Kushner has been charged with overseeing the construction of the border wall, reports The Washington Post.

Additionally, Kushner has told aides that President Donald Trump wants at least 400 miles built by Election Day. Trump is said to be frustrated with the lack of progress as none of his wall has been built – all 78 miles of what has been described as a "new" border wall built so far are replacements for existing barriers.

"The point is to get as much built in the next year or so, so the president can say in the face of intense, almost demented opposition he has made reasonable progress," Mark Krikorian, director of the Center for Immigration Studies, a think tank seeks to restrict immigration and supports many of Trump's policies, told the Post.

Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., told the Post his hope was Kushner could "put a more laser focus on the project and the process. Maybe he can light a fire under the responsible agencies, but if recent history is any indication, he will get frustrated before he gets results."
