Rep. Jason Chaffetz was heckled and booed Thursday by angry citizens at a town hall meeting in his district in Utah.

Constituents challenged the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee about his apparent unwillingness to investigate President Donald Trump's possible conflicts of interest, Politico reports.

He was widely booed when he told him that his committee would not pursue any conflict issues "until there's evidence he's somehow used that to ingratiate his family.

"You’re not going to like this part: the president, under the law, is exempt from conflict of interest laws," Chaffetz said.

He later tried to assure the angry crowd that he was interested in listening to their concerns.

"We're yelling past each other," Chaffetz told an audience member who slammed the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as education secretary, according to Politico. "I understand that you don't agree with me, but we've got to be able to talk."
