House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz said Tuesday he is "curious" about the president's new Washington, D.C., hotel near the White House, The Hill reports.

"His being both the landlord and the tenant is something that we're curious what the GSA's opinion of that is," Chaffetz said as he exited a House Republican Conference meeting.

Trump's contract with the federal General Services Administration prohibits elected officials from being on the lease of the historic federal building or profiting from it.

His critics want Chaffetz — whose committee investigated Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while secretary of state — to probe whether Trump's arrangement is a conflict of interest.

The Trump International Hotel Washington, D.C., at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, is a five-star hotel that occupies the capital's Old Post Office Pavilion and opened in September.
