Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., said he has obtained a commitment by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. to bring up a bill in January to replace the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, The Hill reports.

"I am ... pleased that the majority Leader has committed to bring the bipartisan DACA bill we are currently negotiating to the Senate floor in January," Flake said.

President Donald Trump has said he is ending the program, which allows immigrants brought into the U.S. illegally as children to work and get an education. Congress has until March to address fixing the program or hundreds of thousands of immigrants could face deportation, the Hill reported.

A bipartisan group of senators, including Flake, has been discussing an agreement to link DACA to a border security package, the website noted.

And Flake took to Twitter to announce the pending legislation will be ready next month.
