Sen. Jeff Flake, the Arizona Republican who has drawn the ire of Donald Trump for critical comments he made about the president in his recently published book, "Conscience of a Conservative," told CNN on Tuesday he doesn't worry about the attacks, Mediaite reports.
Trump is in downtown Phoenix Tuesday night for a campaign-style rally but Flake won't be attending.
"I'm running my own campaign, it's going well," said Flake, who is up for re-election in 2018. "And what the president does, that's his prerogative."
Trump slammed Flake on Twitter last Thursday for being "weak on borders, crime" and for being a "non-factor in the Senate" and praised Dr. Kelli Ward for running against him.
"I don't worry about it at all," said Flake. "I just go ahead and do my job."
Flake is one of Trump's most outspoken Republican critics and in his book said the GOP party and Trump had lost touch with conservatives and "have given into the politics of anger."
