Freedom Caucus member Rep. Jim Jordan brushed aside White House warnings that hard-line lawmakers will face a backlash in their re-election primaries, saying the caucus is focused on its promise to repeal Obamacare.

In an interview on CNN's "State of the Union," the GOP Ohio lawmaker said "what concerns me more than this threat of primaries is keeping our word with the American people."

"You would think even Congress should be able to put together a piece of legislation that more than 17 percent of our fellow citizens like," he said, referring to the sidelined GOP leadership bill to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Jordan dismissed a tweet by White House director of social media, Dan Scavino, calling for Michigan GOP Rep. Justin Amash to be primaried.

"Our job is to do what we told the voters we were going to do when they gave us the privilege to serve – and my focus and the focus of Justin Amash and anyone else in the Freedom Caucus," he said.

"Let's put together a better piece of legislation that keeps our word with the American people," he added. "That is my focus and that is Justin Amash's focus and the focus of the Freedom Caucus. That is what the election in 2010, 2014 and 2016 was about. So let's do that."
