Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, doubled down Thursday on his call for a second special counsel to look into former FBI Director Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, saying revelations of bias are showing some of the agents involved did not want President Donald Trump to win his election.
The Ohio Republican also told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" anchor Bill Hemmer he wants to bring FBI agents Peter Strzok, Andrew McCabe, and Bruce Ohr in for questioning.
"You think about Peter Strzok and what we learned from that text message yesterday, saying we can't take that risk [of Trump winning], we can't take the risk of Donald Trump being elected president, and so we have an insurance policy," Jordan told Hemmer.
"That shows intent to put together a plan to somehow stop what the American people wanted to happen, which is Donald Trump be the next president."
The text, sent from Strzok, the head of counterintelligence at the FBI to FBI lawyer Lisa Page, read in full that he wanted "to believe the path that you threw out for consideration in Andy's office. There's no way he gets elected. But I'm afraid we can't take that risk. It's like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you're 40."
"That is scary from the guy head of counterintelligence at the FBI, from the guy who was the guy, he ran the [Hillary] Clinton investigation and the Russian investigation," Jordan said.
"He interviewed Clinton. He is the guy who changed the term gross negligence, a crime, to extreme carelessness, not a crime, in that exoneration letter that Comey unveiled about Secretary Clinton. That guy was planning to do something."
Every day, more is being learned about the campaign and the FBI, said Jordan.
"Bruce Ohr, top official at the Justice department, is meeting during the campaign, meeting with the guy who wrote the dossier, the disproven, discredited fake news dossier," said Jordan. "
Bruce Ohr is meeting with Christopher Steele during the campaign and meeting just after the campaign with Glen Simpson, the founder of Fusion GPS. A top officer at the Justice Department meeting with the guy who wrote the dossier and meeting with people who paid for the dossier. You can't make this up."
Ohr's wife, he continued, was working for Fusion GPS and "hired expressly to work on the Russian dossier project," Jordan continued. "We need Bruce Ohr and Peter Strzok and Andrew McCabe with the Judiciary Committee answering questions."
