President Donald Trump was "exactly right" in issuing a ban on travelers from seven terror-linked nations, according to Bobby Jindal — one of the most prominent Republicans to stand up for the controversial executive order.

The Washington Examiner on Sunday reported the former Louisiana governor and GOP presidential primary candidate called the ban a "common sense" decision — and wasn't aimed at Muslims.

"President Trump is exactly right, and let's be clear what his policy does — all he's saying from these seven countries, we're going to vet folks who want to come into our country and make sure they're not here to do us harm," Jindal said, the Examiner reported. "That's just common sense."

"These are seven countries where there's a significant radical Islamic terrorist threat. It just makes common sense we'd want to make sure these folks wanting to come and kill Americans and inflict terrorist attacks here in the homeland" are screened.

In a speech given in London in 2015, Jindal said immigration without assimilation is an "invasion."
