A new report claims Vice President Joe Biden will meet with several major fundraisers of the Democrat party during the week after Labor Day as he continues to ponder joining the presidential race.
The Washington Post reports Biden will meet with the donors at his residence at the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C.
Two of the guests were bundlers who raised a lot of cash for President Barack Obama's presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2012, reports the Post.
Biden has spent a lot of time in recent weeks pondering a presidential run.
He reportedly spoke with his family while on vacation in South Carolina two weeks ago, and a report Monday morning
said it's looking more and more likely that he will join the race.
Before Biden's son Beau passed away of brain cancer in May, he reportedly told his father
he'd like for him to run for president one more time. Still, Joe Biden — who ran unsuccessfully for president in 1988 and 2008 —
reportedly considered resigning from the vice presidency after his son's death.
If Biden does join the race, he would be the sixth candidate on the Democratic side. Frontrunner Hillary Clinton's future in the campaign, however, remains murky because of the ongoing scandal surrounding her use of a private email address and server while she was secretary of state (2009-2013).
The FBI is looking at Clinton's email server as it tries to determine whether she sent classified material over the non-government system.
"The network is starting to reach out," one major fundraiser told the Post regarding Biden. "I'm getting calls from people saying, 'We're waiting for him to announce.' People are nervous and weary of the Hillary side show, of the emails."
Biden met with Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Saturday, which has some wondering whether there will be a Biden-Warren ticket on the ballot next year.
Warren, who has been in office since 2013,
has resisted several calls to run for president.
