President-elect Donald Trump is considering ExxonMobil Corp. CEO Rex Tillerson as secretary of state, "Morning Joe" co-host Joe Scarborough said Thursday on Twitter.
Here is Scarborough's post, which included an update on Mitt Romney's running for the post:
Trump met with Romney twice on the position, including a dinner session on Tuesday in New York with incoming Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.
Other candidates for secretary of state include former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, retired Army Gen. David Petraeus and Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker.
Trump transition officials did not respond to a request for comment on Scarborough's report, according to The Hill, and an ExxonMobil spokesman declined to comment.
Tillerson, 64, has worked at the oil producer for more than four decades, first joining Exxon as an engineer in 1975. Exxon merged with Mobil Oil Corp. in 1999.
He was named chairman and CEO of the company in 2006.
Tillerson is a native of Texas and he made $27.3 million last year, the Hill reports.
