John Bolton believes President Donald Trump should renegotiate the "inherently ambiguous" One-China Policy, the former ambassador to the U.N. told The Washington Free Beacon.
Bolton told the Free Beacon that China's claim to Taiwan is "ahistorical" and it's time to restore sovereignty to the Taiwanese.
"The One China policy is inherently ambiguous," Bolton told the Free Beacon. "China thinks it means one thing, we think it means another. A clear relationship with both Beijing and Taipei on this would help all concern rather than [having] this phrase which means anything and nothing."
Trump rattled China's cage in December by talking with Taiwan's president and later insisting that America's continued support for One China must be bargained for, but most recently assured China President Xi Jinping that the U.S. would continue to recognize it.
