John Dean, former White House counsel for Richard Nixon, ripped into Donald Trump and predicted the president's term will end in "calamity."

Dean's comments were posted on Twitter and directly point to Trump's firing of Acting Attorney General Sally Yates and his appointment of chief strategist Steve Bannon to the National Security Council.

Dean had been critical of Trump previously. The New York Daily News reported that he raised questions about Trump's decision not to completely cut all ties to his outside business interests.

"The whole question now is whether he is going to be violating the Constitution on day one with the emoluments clause," he said.

Politico noted the FBI had once called Dean "the master manipulator of the cover- up" in the Watergate scandal.
