President Donald Trump reportedly gave White House chief of staff John Kelly the job of calling Attorney General Jeff Sessions to ask for his resignation.
According to CNN, the former general put in the call to the beleaguered AG to drop the bombshell.
Bloomberg also reported that before Trump gave a nearly two-hour-long news conference on Wednesday, Kelly called Sessions and told him that Trump wanted him out.
At the news conference, Trump brushed off a question about Sessions’ future, suggesting it would be dealt with at a later date.
Trump has come under fire for the way he’s axed top officials in the past.
Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson reportedly found out he was fired when Trump tweeted about it, and former FBI Director James Comey reportedly learned that he was axed by seeing the news flash on TV.
