Billionaire businessman and GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has not been taking criticism of him lying down, and that extends to conservative stalwarts Charles Krauthammer and Jonah Goldberg.
Krauthammer said on
Fox News Channel's "Special Report" that Trump's campaign is "run on know-nothing xenophobia."
Interviewed Wednesday on
MSNBC's Thomas Roberts show by Katy Tur, Trump called Krauthammer a "rodeo clown" who is "a totally overrated person that dislikes me personally. I've never met him. He's a totally overrated guy, doesn't know what he's doing."
Goldberg, of National Review Online, said in a
column that it never dawned on Trump "that some people say 'you should run for president' the way you tell your long-winded uncle 'you should write a book.' History is full of failed men who mistook flattery for insight."
"I'm worth a fortune," Trump responded. "You know, it's interesting. I went to the best school, got great marks, everything else. I went out, I made a fortune, a big fortune, a tremendous fortune… bigger than people even understand. … Then I get called by a guy that can't buy a pair of pants, I get called names?"
Trump noted that he isn't universally hated by the GOP.
"By the way, are you going to mention the ones that do like Trump?" he asked Tur. "No, you don't do that."
