Rep. Jim Jordan R-Ohio, is hoping U.S. Attorney John Durham is “looking hard at holding former FBI Director Jim Comey accountable for abuses during the Russia investigation.
Jordan made his comments on Tuesday during an interview on television’s “Fox & Friends.”
“The common denominator through all that is Jim Comey” he said. “And I hope, I hope, that John Durham in his investigation is looking hard at holding Jim Comey accountable for all this stuff that has played out over the last three and a half years.”
Durham is investigating the origins of the Russia investigation.
“They tried to trap and they did trap Michael Flynn,” Jordan said. “They tried to set up and trap (President Donald Trump).”
Jordan mentioned a meeting with Barack Obama and intelligence officials, which led up to FBI agents interview with Flynn.
And he noted that just days after Obama’s meeting, “Jim Comey sends two guys into the White House, sneaks them in, doesn’t follow any protocol, to set up Michael Flynn.”
The Justice Department has announced it was dropping the criminal case against Flynn. Prosecutors in the case had maintained that Flynn had lied to the FBI about his conversations with the Russian ambassador in a January 2017 interview.
But the Justice Department said it had found that Flynn’s interview by the FBI was “untethered to, and unjustified by, the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into Mr. Flynn.”
