Trump: 'Hopefully' Justice Dept Investigates Hillary on Russia

President Donald Trump said Thursday that "hopefully" the Justice Department was investigating Democrat Hillary Clinton over the party's funding of an unsubstantiated Russian dossier, saying he was "frustrated" he cannot become involved in the process.

"Hopefully, they are doing something," Trump told WMAL radio host Larry O'Connor in Washington. "At some point maybe we're all going to have it out."

He told O'Connor he was "very unhappy" the agency was not probing Clinton after news reports her campaign and the Democratic National Committee financed what later became the dossier.

Trump called the document "fake."

"The saddest thing, is because I'm the president of the United States, I'm not supposed to be involved in the Justice Department," Trump told O'Connor. "I am not supposed to be involved in the FBI.

"I'm not supposed to be doing the kinds of things I would love to be doing — and I'm very frustrated by it."

President Trump also touted the Republican tax-reform plan introduced earlier Thursday, saying "we're very happy at what's come out of the House.

"I think we will have the votes.

"There's a great level of popularity for what we're doing — and we need for it to take off," he said.

In addition, Trump again called for ending the Diversity Visa Lottery Program the suspect in Tuesday's New York City terror attack used to enter the U.S. from Uzbekistan in 2010.

"Immigration in this country is a mess," he said. "We're supposed to take people who the world doesn't want and we're supposed say it's a lovely event.

"It's not going to happen that way with me."

Trump later took to Twitter to call for a Justice probe of Clinton, in light of former DNC Chair Donna Brazile's book slamming party operatives for allowing the campaign to take over the committee:

Trump also told Laura Ingraham on Fox News the amount of money the DNC spent on the dossier was "absolutely inconceivable."

"That dossier, which is totally fake and made up, is like a novel," he said. "It's a disgrace and should not have been allowed to be used — and, then, I hear the kind of money they spent.

"It's inconceivable, it's absolutely inconceivable. It's horrible."

On trying to determine who at the committee authorized the payments to the Fusion GPS opposition-research firm, Trump said: "We're trying to figure out — and we'll find out.

"Really, I think it's a disgrace that a thing like that can take place."
