Donald Trump's repeated claims that the presidential election is "rigged" in favor of rival Hillary Clinton are "silly," Ohio Gov. John Kasich said Wednesday.
"Look, to say that elections are rigged and all these votes are stolen, that's like saying we never landed on the moon, frankly," Kasich said on the "CBS This Morning" program. "That's how silly it is."
Kasich, unlike most of the other GOP presidential candidates, has not endorsed Trump's campaign, and said Trump is creating paranoia about the nation's democracy.
"I don't think it's good for our country, for our democracy, and I don't believe we have any massive fraud," Kasich said. "We don't have that. That's just a silly argument ... the problem is it does create doubt in people's minds and I worry about 25 percent of Americans who may say when the election's over that it was stolen. That is a big, fat joke."
Meanwhile, Kasich would not say who will get his vote, but he has stated often that he would neither support Trump or Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
"I don't know what I'm going to do yet," Kasich said, joking to show co-host Charlie Rose that "I might write your name in."
Kasich also called for the passage of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), a pact Trump fiercely opposes.
"If we don't approve this, frankly, who wins?" Kasich said of the partnership, which would link the United States and 11 Pacific rim countries. "[Refusing it] is really a big mistake not only from an economic point of view but also from the standpoint of geo-politics."
As Clinton also has voiced opposition to TPP, Kasich said there is still an opportunity in the lame duck session of Congress, "if the Republican leadership wants to push and the Democrats want to provide some votes."
Candidates do change their minds once they're out of the heat of a campaign, Kasich said, but he vowed to "do everything I can to help the White House on this for the simple reason that this is in the best interest of the United States."
