Donald Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway says Tuesday night's close election results may have surprised pundits, but not the campaign —they've been seeing those numbers for a while.
In fact, she told Fox News, that's the reason for Trump's foray into states thought to be firm Democratic strongholds.
Trump has been able to "energize the forgotten men and the forgotten women," she said and take the Republican party away from the "elites."
"I was raised in a very blue collar household and non-college educated area," Conway told Fox's Megyn Kelly. "And I see in these people wherever we go the same type of just essential goodness like the people I grew up with, but also people who feel frustrated. They do think the system is rigged against them. All they want is a fair opportunity and a break."
