Conservative commentator Bill Kristol said Saturday that Virginia Sen. Tom Kaine was correct in his attack in Miami of Donald Trump on foreign policy but slammed both him and Hillary Clinton for their roles in Iraq, Syria — and on the Iran nuclear deal.
Here's what Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, said on Twitter:
In his debut Saturday in Florida as Clinton's running mate, Kaine slammed Trump's "trash talk" to various groups.
"Do you want a trash-talking president or a bridge builder?" Kaine asked the primarily Hispanic crowd at Florida International University. "Donald Trump trash-talks people with disabilities, trash-talks Mexican Americans, trash-talks women, trash-talks our allies.
"He does not trash-talk everybody," the senator added. "He likes Vladimir Putin."
Kristol's tweet also refers to Clinton's role in the 2012 Benghazi attacks that killed four Americans — and while Kaine has attacked the Obama administration on Syria, he has taken no concrete action on the issue.
Both Clinton and Kaine supported the Iran nuclear agreement.
