The Democrats' blame Trump narrative is not surprising, but it is going to backfire in 2020 because Americans see through it, according to Trump 2020 campaign senior adviser Lara Trump on Newsmax TV.
"I think that when people immediately rush to say these things – about this president in particular – I think it's very, very clear to people what's going on out there: That they're looking to vilify this president, to do anything they can," the president's daughter in law told Monday's "The Joe Pags Show."
"Because the reality is, when you're talking about the Democrats' shot and actually winning the election in 2020 – whoever they decide their candidate is – it's going to be really hard to beat this president. So, here was an opportunity, sadly, for them to do what they always do and try and criticize and blame this president, but I really do think the most people in this country get that."
Saying "American people know the truth," Lara Trump lamented to host Joe Pagliarulo that Democratic presidential primary candidates focused on blaming President Donald Trump instead of giving a period of time for grief.
"What a horrific weekend to see within 24 hours all of this happening," she said. "And then you see, instead of focusing on the victims, their families, etc., that you did have so many politicians, mostly people running for president, on the left come out and blame this whole thing on the president.
"Instead of taking a beat and waiting, and giving respect to these people and giving them time to grieve, they have to politicize everything. It's just their knee-jerk instinct – instead of saying, 'I'm sorry and we feel for these people,' let's blame it on President Trump.
"But that should surprise no one and that is exactly the way they operate. That is exactly what they do. In every single thing that happens in this country, they want to blame Donald Trump for it."
