President Donald Trump is getting closer to forming a team of lawyers to serve as his outside counsel in regards to the Russia investigation.

The Washington Post reported Trump has played an active role in assembling the team. A list of finalists reportedly surfaced Monday, which includes the following attorneys: Marc E. Kasowitz, Robert J. Giuffra Jr., Reid H. Weingarten, and Theodore B. Olson.

Trump, according to the Post, wanted several lawyers to represent him as opposed to one person.

There are several ongoing investigations into whether the Trump campaign had an improper relationship with Russia. Last week, the Department of Justice named former FBI director Robert Mueller a special counsel to the FBI's probe.

Trump has denied colluding with America's Cold War foe, as have people close to him. A report last week claimed the FBI has zeroed in on a senior White House official as a person of interest in the investigation.

Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn is in hot water for having suspected ties to Russia and possibly Turkey.
