Sen. Graham: Trump Jr.'s Email Is 'Disturbing,' 'Very Problematic'

Sen. Lindsey Graham on Tuesday said Donald Trump Jr. will "definitely have to testify" regarding the "disturbing" and "very problematic" email he released detailing a meeting with a Russian lawyer.

Trump Jr. released the email exchange and a statement regarding his version of the meeting he took with Natalia Veselnitskaya in the summer of 2016 to allegedly talk about dirt the lawyer said she had about Hillary Clinton and her campaign.

Whether Veselnitskaya had information to dish or not was irrelevant to Graham.

"Anytime you're in a campaign and you get an offer from a foreign government to help your campaign the answer is 'no,'" Graham told a press gaggle.

"Definitely he has to testify — that email is disturbing," Graham told reporters. "But what is equally odd to me is that the person they met with knew absolutely nothing. So I don't know why they would pick somebody for him to meet with that didn't have any information about the Clinton campaign.

"But on its face, this is very problematic. We cannot allow foreign governments to reach out to anybody's campaign and say, 'We'd like to help you.' That is a non-starter," Graham said.
