Conservative radio host Dana Loesch slammed Great Britain's "monstrous" treatment of a terminally ill 23-month-old British boy.
Her comments came during a Thursday interview on Fox News' "Fox & Friends."
Courts in Great Britain ruled Alfie Evan's father and mother are not legally allowed to take their son to Italy for treatment. Tom Evans and his wife had planned to take their child to the Vatican's Bambino Gesu Pediatric Hospital, according to Fox News.
The Washington Post reported the Italian government had even granted the boy Italian citizenship and put together a transportation plan to get him there.
"This is all about ego for the socialist healthcare system in Britain," Loesch said. "And it is absolutely monstrous that a country could murder a child as opposed to allowing their parents -- at no expense to NHS (National Health Service) -- to take this child somewhere else to receive treatment."
Baby Alfie was removed from life support Monday. Courts, backed by doctors, said further treatment was futile after the child suffered a seizure in December 2016, Fox News reported.
He is presently in a "semi-vegetative state" as a result of a degenerative neurological condition, the news network said.
Loesch, who also serves as spokeswoman for the National Rifle Association, slammed "unelected bureaucrats" for deciding which lives are worth of treatment.
"This is monstrous," she said. "This country is committing murder. "I hope that the Pope gets involved. If they kill this child the sun has set on the empire of Britain."
Loesch noted Prince William's wife, Kate, just gave birth to a little boy.
"Can you imagine if this was the Duchess of Cambridge's son?" she said. "I think the outcome would be very different."
