Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., said the House Republican tax reform plan falls short in its attempt to help working families.

Rubio made his comments in a Thursday post on Twitter:

The plan calls for boosting the child tax credit from $1,000 per child to $1,600, according to The Hill.

"The current $1,000-per child credit is inadequate and inaccessible to some working families," Rubio had noted in a column for Breitbart back in August.

"Increasing the Child Tax Credit to $2,500 and applying it to both income and payroll taxes, an idea similar to my proposal with Senator Mike Lee, R-Utah, would be a significant improvement that bolsters families’ bottom line and corrects this inequity."
