The crisis of refugees fleeing Syria for Europe won't stop until Syrian President Basher Assad and the Islamic State (ISIS) are defeated, Florida senator and GOP presidential candidate Marco Rubio said.
"We have allowed the Syrian situation to spiral out of control," Rubio said Thursday on Fox News Channel's
"On the Record with Greta Van Susteren."
"I argued from the very beginning of that conflict that the U.S. had a national security interest primarily because of the rise of ISIS."
President Barack Obama did nothing, Rubio said, and acted slowly to arm the Syrian rebels, leading to the current crisis.
"It's not just solely the United States' responsibility, but it most certainly is in our national security interest that parts of Europe are now being destabilized because of this migratory crisis," he said.
