Former President Donald Trump has made no official announcement on his 2024 presidential campaign plans, but he met with Cabinet members late this week in Bedminster, New Jersey, according to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows on Newsmax.
"We're looking at what does come next," Meadows told Thursday's "Cortes & Pellegrino."
"I'm not authorized to speak on behalf of the president," he continued to host Steve Cortes, "but I can tell you this, Steve, we wouldn't be meeting [Thursday night] if we weren't making plans to move forward in a real way, with President Trump at the head of that ticket."
Meadows said Trump is "fully engaged, highly focused, and remaining on task" as he weighs his 2024 presidential prospects, including working with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on something akin to the 1990s contract with America.
"I can tell you this: I have been working with Speaker Gingrich," Meadows added. "He's been working with the President Trump on exactly that, on an American movement."
The Federal Election Commission filings from Jan. 1-June 30 show the president has raised more money for political aspirations than any ex-president in history, $82 million and has around $102 million in his war chest, according to Politico.
Despite being banned on social media platforms, Trump has capitalized on a a base energized by obstruction of election fraud investigations and constantly rebuking the struggles of the Biden administration, including the border, pandemic, foreign policy, and inflation.
"When we start to look at some of these critical issues, it is important that they all come together," Meadows added to Cortes.
Late last month, Trump told "The Michael Savage Show" in an exclusive interview his 2024 plans are being held back by "antiquated" campaign finance "rules, regulations."
"It's very complicated, very stiff, and frankly very antiquated, if you want to know the truth," Trump told Savage's podcast. "It's ridiculous. It's actually ridiculous."
While teasing his 2024 run to retake the White House, Trump has told myriad interviewers his supporters would be "very happy" with his ultimate decision.
First things first, though, Trump will be helping Virginia's off-year GOP gubernatorial candidate Glenn Youngkin help flip the state blue to red, according to Meadows. Virginia's off-year election comes the year after a presidential election and is generally viewed as a bellwether for the midterms.
"We're going to see a red wave in Virginia come this November," Meadows concluded. "And quite frankly, it's going to astonish a lot of people in Washington, D.C., and around the country."
