Rep. Marsha Blackburn expressed confidence Thursday that Republicans would complete their agenda by August.
"I fully believe we're going to get this done," the Tennessee Republican said in an interview on Fox News' "America's Newsroom."
Blackburn said the House's priorities are repealing Obamacare, tax reform, and working on the budget for 2018. She noted that while the Senate would be at work on confirming a Supreme Court justice and "about 1,200" Trump administration confirmations, "we'll be cheering them on and encouraging them to put in those long days and nights."
"Regulatory reform is on the way. Sending control and power back to the states, letting them make decisions on healthcare and on welfare reform… Every committee is going to be working," Blackburn said.
Trump's plan to spend billions on the Mexican border wall is necessary, she continued, "when you look at the cost to society and to the American taxpayer with what is happening with the lack of border control and the inflow of labor trafficking, gangs, sex trafficking and whoever knows whatever else. It is important that we get a handle on that border and secure it."
She endorsed a meeting between Trump and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, saying, "I think it's the right thing."
On Thursday, however, the Mexican leader announced that he would not attend the meeting.
