A high-profile Democrat said President Donald Trump should be impeached if it's proven that he has improper ties to the Russian government.
Rep. Maxine Waters told C-SPAN's "Newsmakers" program she wants to see "credible investigations" take place that examine Trump and Russia.
"The only thing that I am focused on is credible investigations to bring out the facts," Waters said, The Hill reports.
"If the facts are there, then I think we should move very quickly to do something about it.
"And if there was collusion, and any support for undermining our democracy, I think the president should be impeached. I've said that, and that's where I stand."
U.S. intelligence agencies concluded that Russia tried to influence last fall's presidential election via computer hacks and the dissemination of fake news. Many of Trump's critics have accused him and/or his campaign of having inappropriate ties to the Russian government, although no concrete evidence has been made public.
Another report looked at whether there is a tie between Trump and a Russian oligarch.
Last weekend, Trump accused former President Barack Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower.
The FBI is reportedly looking at a possible connection between the Trump Organization and a Russian bank.
