Gov. Terry McAuliffe, D-Virginia, denounced President Donald Trump's claims hatred was "on both sides" in the Charlottesville, Virginia, protest earlier this month, but he did vow to "come after" and "arrest" those we committed acts of violence on "either side."

"If you came to Virginia and you committed some act of violence, we are going to come after you and we are going to arrest you t either side, regardless," Gov. McAuliffe told CNN's "State of the Union" with Jake Tapper. — McAuliffe told Tapper "everybody is entitled to protest," as long "it's peaceful protest."

"I saw a picture today of a gentleman with an aerosol can with like a flame thrower," McAuliffe added. "We're going to track you down. . . . You commit a crime of violence, I don't care which side you're on. We're going to come get you."

Regardless of the vow to get the violent protesters, McAuliffe contended the hatred was one-sided.

"To be honest, their hatred is not welcome in this country," he told Tapper. "They're cowards. They came to Virginia armed to harm our citizens. They came to do harm and brought their hatred here. It wasn't both sides. There is no moral equivalent.

"You had one side, neo-Nazis — who our great country fought against Adolf Hitler — and white supremacists and klansmen, spewing hatred. I disagree with the president. It wasn't both sides. This was one side, hatred, bigotry, and there's no place in this country."
