McCain: Select Committee Must Probe Russian Meddling

A bipartisan select committee must investigate alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia during the election, Republican Sen. John McCain told Fox News' "American Newsroom" on Wednesday.

"I think it's reached a level where it requires a select committee," the Arizona senator said. "There's too many unanswered questions out there. It seems like every few days there's a new revelation of some kind."

Speaking about the dispute in the House Intelligence Committee, where Democrats are calling for Chairman Devin Nunes to step aside in the investigation due to what they call collusion between himself and the White House, McCain said "You cannot get things accomplished unless it's in a bipartisan fashion."

McCain said he did not think the White House was trying to block the probe into Russia's meddling in the U.S. election, but said "I do believe that Congressman Nunes should have consulted with other members of the committee before he took the action that he took."

Turning to healthcare, when asked what his priorities would be in tackling the issue, McCain said "My first priority would be to try to have a choice and availability of healthcare for all of our citizens. In Arizona, its imploding. Premiums have gone up thanks to Obamacare 125 percent. We're down to one provider, down from as many as a dozen before this. It's a disaster in my state and it is imploding and it needs to be fixed. I hope we can come together and bring Democrats along in these discussions."
