Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is telling Republican senators to get set for an impeachment trial of President Donald Trump as early as Thanksgiving, The Washington Post is reporting.

McConnell's remarks came in a closed-door weekly luncheon with Republican senators on Wednesday. During the meeting, McConnell gave a presentation about the impeachment process.

According to the Post, McConnell said the Senate would likely meet six days a week during the trial.

"There's sort of a planned expectation that it would be sometime around Thanksgiving, so you'd have basically Thanksgiving to Christmas — which would be wonderful because there's no deadline in the world like the next break to motivate senators," Sen. Kevin Cramer R-N.D. said.
