President Donald Trump has some mild COVID symptoms, but he's in "good spirits" and moving forward with a working schedule, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Friday.

"We are exploring a number of different ways to do this," McEnany told Fox News' Harris Faulkner on "Outnumbered Overtime," adding that Trump loves the American people and speaking with them directly.

"Nothing will stop that," she promised.

According to reports, Trump aide Hope Hicks tested positive on Wednesday, after she was isolated after becoming ill on Air Force One when she was traveling with the president. McEnany said she was not aware of what had happened on Air Force One at the time, but when Hicks tested positive, contact tracing went into effect, but that takes time.

"Rest assured we will do what is in the best interest of the American people," said McEnany. "I have confidence in the White House medical unit to make the right decisions with Hope and others."

Meanwhile, the fate of the Oct. 15 presidential debate is not known. It will fall within the 14-day quarantine period, but McEnany said the White House hasn't gotten that far yet.

"We are focused on the president," she said, adding that staffers are having to hold him back from working.

"He is hard at work (and has) spoken to Sen. Mitch McConnell and Sen. (Lindsey) Graham," said McEnany. "I spoke to him last night. He absolutely was hard at work. He was feeling good then. He did a long "Hannity" on this network."

McEnany also slammed a New York Times report speculating about whether Trump should remain on the presidential ballot.

"What a ridiculous assertion," she said. "He is on the ballot and he is hard at work. You look at the jobs report today, those remarkable numbers, below 8% unemployment. That's a testament to what this president has done. He is continuing to work. He will all the way through November."
