New Hampshire Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown attacked the incumbent, Democrat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, for publicly dissociating herself from President Barack Obama's amnesty policies while doing little to actually stop him,
Breitbart News reported.
Brown, who is a former U.S. senator from Massachusetts, was defeated by Elizabeth Warren in 2012. He established residence in New Hampshire to run for the Senate from there.
He criticized Obama's reported
plans to circumvent Congress by granting executive amnesty and permanent work permits to millions of illegal immigrants and others.
"I'm against it, absolutely," Brown said. The president should not be granting "additional status for people who have broken the law without even securing the border. It makes no sense," Breitbart reported.
Shaheen has said she "would not support a piecemeal approach issued by executive order" on immigration, preferring that House Republicans pass "the bipartisan reform bill the Senate cleared last year,"
Bloomberg reported.
Brown told Breitbart that Shaheen "has a history of supporting the president's policies on immigration, on the Dream Act, on border security." He said that out of "political expediency right now … she's 'not going to support him' but in reality she's going to back him up as much as she can and as often as she can."
Brown has been campaigning with Frank Guinta, who is trying to unseat Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter and recapture his old congressional seat, and with former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu.
Sununu said, "The best thing Jeanne Shaheen can do to stop executive amnesty is lose, and she's going to," Breitbart reported.
While Pentagon and State Department officials detailed plans to address
the Ebola crisis in a news conference last Thursday, Brown said Obama's handling of the crisis left unclear the exact nature of the mission: "what the parameters are [and] what they're going to do to keep [the troops] safe and secure."
He said he saw "a pattern of confusion" in the administration's handling of Ebola "as evidenced by [Obama] picking an Ebola czar who has no experience dealing with this type of situation," Breitbart reported.
Brown said the Senate race had national implications. "It's about restoring New Hampshire and it's about restoring America," Breitbart reported.
